How We're Committing to Live Together

On April 26, 2021 CLC's elders agreed to begin the process of adopting a set of commitments our church will aim to live out together in love for Jesus, each other, and the world, until the Lord returns.

These commitments will be given to the congregation to view, discuss, and pray over on Sunday, June 13th and will be taught in a Sunday morning sermon series on August 29th, September 5th, and September 12th.

After that, discussion will be in regards adopting or not adopting these commitments.

Membership Commitments

In view of God’s mercy and grace, and by the power of His Spirit,

WE COMMIT TO THE UNITY OF OUR CHURCH THROUGH

A) Affirming our Statement of Faith

Jude 1:3 |  "I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.”

B) Serving and caring for our members in love.

Phil. 2:3-4,7 | "Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others….the same as that of Jesus Christ...who took on the very nature of a servant..."

C) Honoring our leaders

Hebrews 13:17 | "Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you."

WE COMMIT TO THE MISSION OF OUR CHURCH THROUGH CULTIVATING:

A) A Worshipping Culture

Hebrews 10:24-25 | "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."

B) A Discipling Culture

Colossians 3:16 | "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom…”

C) An Evangelizing Culture

Luke 14:23 | "And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.'

WE COMMIT TO THE TESTIMONY OF OUR CHURCH THROUGH

A) Supporting the Church Financially

2 Cor. 8:7 | "But as you excel in everything...see that you excel in this act of grace also.”

B) Living A Worthy Life

Philippians 1:27 | “Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ."

C) Prayerfully participating in the church’s polity.

1 Cor. 5:12-13 | I For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”
