Financial Support: Committed to the Mission of the Local Church
- The sermon says membership means more than "this is where I attend church" — it means "these are my people, this is a mission I'm committed to." Does your giving back that claim up, or are you functionally just an attender who hasn't put his money where his mouth is?
- Israel's firstfruits in Deuteronomy 26 were tied to remembering what God did for them — slavery, crying out, deliverance. We were slaves to sin and Christ freed us. Does your giving reflect that, or does it look the same as a guy who doesn't believe any of it?
- Paul says give "not reluctantly or under compulsion" (2 Corinthians 9:7). Be straight with yourself: is your giving driven by guilt, obligation, or looking good — or is it an actual response to what God's done? What needs to change?
- The sermon names five things giving supports: members in need, the church's leaders, general ministry, missions, and practical overhead. Which of these are you actually funding, and which have you been ignoring?
- Instead of "what's the minimum I owe," the sermon asks "considering what God's given me, how do I use my resources for his glory?" Answer that right now — with a number or an action, not a vague intention.
